Temasek Holdings
Temasek Holdings is a Sovereign Wealth Fund based in Singapore. It has over $160 billion in assets and is the 6th largest SWF. It was created in 1974. Temasek is the second Sovereign Wealth Fund in Singapore and is considered to have a more risky investment strategy than its counterpart, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.
Investment Strategy
Temasek has pursued an aggressive strategy in the past 10 years. They have built up stakes in major companies including Barclays, Merrill Lynch, Singapore Airlines, and Standard Chartered Plc. Temasek has also acquired small companies and built up their capital and market share. With the exception of several large investments in multinational corporations, Temasek tends to invest in Asia, primarily in developing Asian countries such as India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Thailand.
